The Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah – Staycation Review

The Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah – Staycation Review

In this blog post, we are going to share about our staycation at the five-star Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah.

Location of the Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah

The Cove Rotana Resort is only 1 hour away from Dubai with a car. The resort is located in the northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Being based on a beautiful beach, that glimmers with incredible, daily sunsets ☀️.

This desirable five-star resort has some of the best food that you will come across in the UAE. The Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah is the ideal destination for memorable family getaways or staycations 💛

Ras Al Khaimah may be a little way from the tourist hotspot of Dubai but it has its ‘things to visit too’ such as;

  • Jebel Jais ‘Worlds Longest Zipline’
  • Hike up to Dhayah Fort
  • Roadtrip through the Hajar Mountains ⛰
  • Abandoned village of Jazirat Al-Hamra

Price of Room at the Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah

Prices start from 405Dhs a night for 1 bedroom for 2 adults. The Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah has many larger rooms and also villas that have their own private pools. We have stayed in villas and 1-bedroom rooms, it all depends on what you want and how many people.

If you are looking for hotels in Dubai then I would recommend these hotels – Al Seef Heritage Hotel in Al Seef, Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek Hotel, Swissotel Al Murooj hotel in Downtown Dubai, Doubletree by Hilton Business Bay hotel, and Avani Palm View Dubai Hotel & Suites.

Facilities at the Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah

600m Private Beach

On the private beach, you can also find a beach bar with regular live entertainment and a water sports centre where you can rent kayaks, jet-skis, surf and even book a scuba diving session. The right side of the beach has steps to access the water and there were fewer people.

We took advantage of the water sports facilities by going on the donut, banana boat, jet skis and kayaking. Neither of us had ever done so much at a resort at once and it was amazing to do and the guys looking after us were top class! Big shoutout to Lahiru for making it the best experience.

Bodylines Fitness & Well-being Club

After using the fitness suite on previous stays, it was always a delight to open the door to the room and see so much equipment and space. The number of times that I have visited resorts and the gym is smaller than my room, this was far from the case.

Workouts on both mornings before breakfast, allowed us to wake up early and enjoyed the quietness around the resort. There is also a 1km running track around the full site, the drawn-out map in down by the middle of the beach, to the left of the beach bar.

Sauna and Steam room with changing facilities

We like trying out the spas of resorts we stay at, so we ventured down from the main reception to the spa facilities. We were extremely impressed with the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, as it was quiet and had it all to ourselves.

As it was only our first night and having our table booked for Basilico an hour later, we had to head off a bit earlier from the spa.  The second night, we revisited and used all the facilities again.

Two Outdoor Infinity Pools

There are two huge infinity pools in the resort. The main one is called Sunset Pool and is located next to the reception, offering sprawling views across the resort and the Arabian Gulf. It is also the busiest since it has a kids pool and it’s temperature controlled.

The Laguna pool overlooks the lagoon villas and is usually less crowded, as there are no kids around and it’s not temperature controlled. Both pools have lifeguards permanently on duty during open hours and there are bars with drink and light food options.

Restaurants

Casual fine dining at Basilico Mediterranean Restaurant comes with an ever-impressive Friday brunch

We visited Basilico on both evenings, the first being for dinner and the second being for a snack before indulging in all-you-can-eat sushi at Breeze Terrace.

When we previously came to Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah and more specifically Basilico, we had the Friday brunch and we highly recommend working any stay with this in mind.

A vast buffet of tempting global cuisine at Cinnamon all-day dining restaurant, this is where we had our morning breakfast and always had lots of food to enjoy

We headed to Cinnamon on our first morning at the resort, as it is a buffet of enormous proportions and we could try everything. On our second morning, we decided to get room service delivered to our room. If you are able to get room service with the American Breakfast, you one million percent should!

The veranda is located near to the pool that has the incredible water slides, which is only a short walk from the main reception of the Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah.

This restaurant is still under maintenance but it shouldn’t be long now the facilities are all back open down there since covid.

Breeze Bar & Lounge is our go-to sports bar and has a Tuesday Sushi all you can eat on the terrace

This is a beautiful spot to dine and relax at any time of the day. We went for sushi and also a quiet drink on our first evening, as it’s a great vantage point to watch the evening entertainment.

Breakers Beach Bar & Lounge is great during the day, with some live entertainment and cold beverages

Laguna Bay Bar is down by the adult-only pool, this makes it the perfect getaway for a bit of peace

Sunset Pool Bar is exactly what it says on the tin, a great sunset over another landmark infinity pool

Sunset Ice Café is perfect for that cold ice cream and is a keen spot for the younger generation

24hr in-room dining service (Highly recommended if you have an amazing view like ours!)

Our Dining Plan at the Cove Rotana Resort

  • Monday Evening – Basilico Mediterranean Restaurant
  • Tuesday Morning – Cinnamon all-day buffet dining restaurant
  • Tuesday Evening – Lunch at Basilico and dinner at Breeze Lounge (Sushi Night)
  • Wednesday Morning – Room service with the American breakfast

Our Room

This was our first time staying in the Premium room at the Cove Rotana Resort Ras Al Khaimah and what an impressive setup it was!

From being perched at the highest point of the resort with the balcony views to the room having everything you could ask for, we were extremely impressed 😊

With distinct Nubian design influences, this cosy room will immerse you in Ras Al Khaimah life and allow you to have the best stay.

With the Cove Rotana Resort being one of our favourite UAE staycations, we have stayed in 4 different types of rooms at the resort since moving to the UAE and this was definitely the best one.

The premium room came with many amenities that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. A few of the best amenities were:

  • Wifi
  • 32 inch LCD TV with multi-lingual channels
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Tea/coffee making facilities + fridge
  • Daily housekeeping service
  • Hairdryer
  • Walk-in shower

With distinct Nubian design influences, this cosy room will immerse you in Ras Al Khaimah life and make you feel like you were at home.

Over the festive period, they are catering to all needs with many of the festive dates having activities and events being held. On Christmas Day, you will be able to join Santa in celebrating in style with the perfect brunch.

View from room of the Cove Rotana Resort

The Cove Rotana Resort is located a short drive from both the centre of Ras Al Khaimah and also Marjan Island. With this being a resort, there isn’t really any reason to want to or have to leave, as everything is on your doorstep.

The view from the resort is one that looks out over the Arabian Gulf and is an absolute delight when the sun is setting, which you have many vantage points to enjoy from.

In the distance, you are able to see the Hajar Mountain Range, which has the UAE’s highest peak of Jebel Jais. At Jebel Jais, you are able to zip line on the World’s longest zip line, through the mountain range and also dine at the top.

Time To Get To Places

  • RAK airport (30 minutes)
  • Marjan Island (20 minutes)
  • Downtown Dubai (1 hr 20 minutes)
  • DXB airport (55 minutes)
  • Fujairah (1 hr 36 minutes)

We live in Downtown Dubai and it took us just over an hour and 15 minutes. The drive was very easy and once out of Dubai, it was one straight road to the resort. When we arrived, we were welcomed by the hospitable staff that helped us with our luggage and made the check-in, extremely stress-free.
